SHANNON ELDREDGE

Shannon is a shellfish harvester on Monomoy Island, Chatham, MA and weir fisherman in Nantucket Sound, catching Squid, Mackerel, Pogies, Scup, Bluefish and Bonito. She and her family have been involved in environmentally sustainable fishing practices for multiple generations, and have facilitated educational and scientific programs with a variety of institutions including SMAST and the New England Aquarium. She serves on the Board of Directors of Women of Fishing Families; is a community health care navigator for fishing families and a certified U.S. Coast Guard safety at see trainer.  She also serves as the Board President of the North Atlantic Marine Alliance based in Gloucester, MA. She studied Early American History with a concentration on Women in Maritime Communities at the College of William and Mary’s graduate program.
