Canned Tuna Sandwich? No Way.
Forget everything you think you know about tuna salad. Long before industrial fishing and mass-produced canned tuna became a pantry staple, coastal communities relied on fresh, locally caught tuna prepared simply to let its rich flavor shine. Today, Chatham Harvesters is bringing that tradition back with sustainably harvested local bluefin tuna, caught by Cape Cod fishing families and landed just miles from your table. This fresh take on a classic tuna sandwich is quick, delicious, and ready in minutes, proving that when you start with exceptional local seafood, there's simply no comparison. Bluefin tuna sandwich is an easy recipe that celebrates fresh, healthy, local seafood at its very best.

Bluefin Tuna Sandwich
Makes 2-4 Sandwiches
Ingredients
1½ tablespoons butter or ghee
½ pound Chatham Harvester's bluefin tuna (poke-cut or cubed), thawed if frozen
4 tablespoons mayonnaise (add more if you prefer a creamier tuna salad)
1 tablespoon chopped green onions
1 teaspoon Chinese hot mustard
½ teaspoon soy sauce
Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
DirectionsÂ
Cook the tuna. Heat the butter or ghee in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the bluefin tuna and sear for about 4-5 minutes, turning occasionally, until lightly charred on the outside while still moist inside.
Flake the tuna. Transfer the cooked tuna to a food processor and pulse 4–5 times until it is coarsely chopped. Alternatively, shred or mash it by hand with a fork.
Cool. Place the tuna in a bowl and refrigerate for 10–15 minutes to cool slightly.
Prepare the dressing. In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, Chinese hot mustard, and soy sauce until smooth.
Combine.
Remove the tuna from the refrigerator. Fold in the mayonnaise mixture and chopped green onions. Season with salt and pepper to taste, mixing until evenly combined.
Serve
Pile the tuna salad onto toasted bread, a brioche bun, croissant, or your favorite sandwich roll. It also makes a delicious filling for lettuce wraps or can be served over a green salad.
